One Down, Four To Go
Ok so my first night of work is finished. I lived through it. I'd love to say that it went fine and was no problem. Of course if I said that I'd be full of shit. It sucked. Basically I am now persona non grata and the harasser will not speak to me at all, not even for work related stuff, neither will her friends. If I were out working on the floor where I was busier and everyone around me was busier this would be less of an issue. However since I'm stuck in a room with her and a few others it's a pretty big uncomfortable thing. I want a new position so bad. Technically I'm not supposed to be able to change jobs for 12 months from date of hire. I was told that possibly there is a way around that. I applied for one position last night but it's totally out of surgical services so I'm not sure I will be even considered since I haven't been there 12 months. The other possible choice that is still in surgical services is a job I think I would like but it's a big pay cut because it's different shifts. I still may end up going that route since I don't know if I can survive another 5 months of this.

Hang in there. Don't fall to their level but treat them with kindness. If it continues, you may just have to talk to your manager again to find out what happened. It doesn't sound like the manager handled it well at all. Either that or the person who was harrassing you has no clue how to work with others. Both may be true. Hopefully it gets resolved soon or that you can get moved.
It is so horrible when you have to work with a bunch of jerks. You spend most of your time with them and it makes a work environment horrible. I know I have been there. I hope you get take another position and find some where that you will be happy!

Oh ick - I hope that things go more smoothly in the weeks ahead and that the time just flies by!
Oh, goodness. I had the same thing happen to me when I lived in Japan. I complained about something (counter to the culture, where you just suffer silently) late in my year, and spent the last 6 weeks as a ghost.
I wish I had advice for you for the next 5 months, but I don't. I can give lots of compassion, though.
Hang in there, you are strong and you will get through this.
Ugh. I hate it when politics gets in the way of professionalism. Don't these folks have anything better to do with their time?
You'll get through this, either by getting away from them, or sticking it out and showing them where they can stick their harassment.
Yuck sorry to hear this. I sure hope it gets better soon :(
I'm wondering if the manger said somethign to her since now she is nto9 talking to you at all.
