Drama

So I called the house sitter last night to tell him the situation. I wanted to give him as much time as possible to figure out what he was going to do. He sounded hurt. Hurt that I would decide to do this. He wanted to make sure that he didn't find something so soon that it left Sadie in the lurch with no one to care for her. Then he called me back later and sounded almost tearful wanting to know if I felt like he was taking advantage of me. At first all of this made me feel guilty, then it started just pissing me off. I wanted to tell him it's not all about him. He wanted to know if I had discussed this with anyone. Or at least with his Ex who is the one who referred him to me. He thought she might try to influence me. Not sure which way he thought she would try to influence me. What a bunch of drama that I don't want to deal with. I will likely end up going home to get Sadie. I hate to bring her down here and put her in an apartment with no yard and have her there when I got to work at night and am gone for like 14 hours but I don't know what else to do. I just want to do whats best for my dog and for the life of me I can't figure that one out.

Wow. What a piece of work he is! My guess is that he knows he's got it good and thinks the tears and drama will sway you. I have an ex like that; he cried in every argument so I would back down. One time I finally asked, "Why do you cry all the time?" and the crocodile tears miraculously dried up. Yeah. That's what I thought.

Sorry the doggy situation isn't ideal. Maybe he'll find a place that allows dogs and he won't want to part with her.

I am a lurker. I love your blog. I just wanted to let you know that I have 2 dogs and I too work long hours. My saving grace...and dog's best friend is their dog walker. After searching and doing many interviews, I found a dog walker that is wonderful. She comes in during the day, takes my boys for a 30-45 min walk, then goes back inside the apartment with them and plays for 15-20 mins. She then puts them back in their kennels (they are still young ie almost 3 yrs, and 1 year old). I live in Fl so I know pricing is different than CA but she only charges 19 (for both dogs) per walk. To me, it is worth it to have my babies be happy..and still get to enjoy their companionship.

I don't know squat about dogs (I'm a cat person), but the house sitter needs to get over it. You are doing what's best for you...I hope you can find a great place for you and the furry children...

thats too bad he responded like that. My dog goes to doggyday care twice a week when I work a longer day. He loves the company and its $15 a day for 12 hours. Just an other option

Sorry about the house situation.... as far as the dog... could you take her to doggie day care the days you work? That way she doesn't have to hold the bathroom that long?

He sounds sensitive!!! I'm sorry you have to deal with this. If I were closer I would take Sadie until you went back home. She would love the country...
I hope you can figure out what to do. The dog sitter sounds like a good option! Or maybe a trusted neighbor who can let her out to do her business?

The situation does suck. You need to do what is best for you and for you alone. Period. Be kind, but concise. And pick Sadie up if you have to. She'll survive for a few weeks.
