What To Say

Its odd.  I'm usually pretty good at writing letters. Definitely better at conveying what I need to say in writing than I am on the phone or face to face.  I'm having a really hard time though figuring out how to jump into this one though. Or maybe it's just the fear of being rejected.  Again.

Speak from your heart and be true to yourself. The words will come. xo

There are probably some how-to letters on the net from other adoptees.

OK, here's my lame suggestion:

Dear ____,

My name is ______, and I was born on _____ in _____. A wonderful family adopted me, and throughout my childhood, I never minded being adopted. More recently, I've become curious about my birth parents. To come right to the point: I am wondering if you might be my mother.

(reasons for thinking this)

Although I'm terrified of being rejected by my birth mother, I need to reach out. My contact information is below....
