Still Here

I'm still here. My head is busy but having a hard time putting it all down. I ended up finding a home for Bailey and it sucks ASS. I miss my little Bailey Boo. I couldn't find another apartment (the current apartment doesn't even know I have 1 dog) that would let me have 3-4 pets and realistically there is no way I could hide a dog or the cats. Cats sit in the window and you have to walk dogs. I felt and still feel horrible about it. I'm not the type of person who views adopting an animal as a minor decision. As a matter of fact I've in the past been rather critical of those who adopt an animal and then dump it in the pound or whatever because of a change in circumstances. Maybe this is a lesson to teach me to be more understanding of others? I felt like it was a long term commitment to get a puppy but when I got Bailey I had no idea that Sadie would be coming back at any point in the near future and if I had known I wouldn't have gotten Bailey because I know that the expenses etc associated with pets is high and I know that it's hard when you rent. I feel a bit like a failure yet again. So that's what has been going on. I'm still here and just trying to hang on.

Ugh, I'm so sorry you had to give Bailey to a new home, but I hope it was a good one. At least she is still a baby and will hopefully adjut with no problem. I guess Sadie is just one of your soul mates and it's meant to be. I know the expense of animals is incredible. I would adopt 10 more cats, but I can't afford to - oh and my husband would kill me, but you know what I mean.

Don't be so hard on yourself! You obviously didn't make this decision lightly & you had to do what was best for you, Sadie, Bailey & your cats. I admire that you're able to see a lesson for yourself in this.

I'm sorry you're having to go through this...big hug!

You are definitely NOT a failure. What a hard decision that you had to make. Hugs.

Its definately a hard decision.

I had to find homes for my dogs and cat earlier this year. They have great homes, but I still miss them. It wasnt an easy decision (the dogs ranged in age from 6-12 years), but it was the right one, for them and me.

But it sounds like you found a home for Bailey, not just a dump off at the pound. That is responsible.

You know, there is no way you could possibly have predicted sadie turning up at this exact moment. Not your fault at all. We had to give our cat to the in-laws after J developed allergies to her. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. It's not like you dropped her off on the side of the road.

No one know the future. You tried to do right by your pets, and you found her a good home. Don't beat yourself up.

So sorry to hear you had to give up Bailey. But you really had no choice, and as you said, you didn't plan any of this.
~hugs~
