Superstitious that is. I never really was superstitious before. The number 13 never bothered me nor did black cats. Many of the little things like knocking on wood or whatever really were never considered to have much truth to them. Now I find myself paying more attention. Maybe I'm hedging my bets.
In the past for various insemination's I've purchased baby items etc to surround myself with during the insemination. Oops, maybe I was supposed to banish all baby related things from my abode. I have a charm bracelet that I wore constantly for several trys that has all baby related charms. Last year right as I was getting ready to start my first IVF I went to Disney*land at Christmas time and spent 2 days searching out ever single wishing well and pond so that I could toss my pennies (and quarters, nickles and dimes) in while wishing for a successful pregnancy. And yes I did feel a little bit let down that the happiest place on earth didn't work it's magic on me. Stupid maybe. I know. So even though I'm trying not to obsess about luck and superstition it's still there in the back of my mind. I've got all my lucky meds donated by other fantastic women. I've got my lucky socks now. I've got a fantastic doctor that I trust very much. Now I've got another very small bit of good luck. The other night someone brought Chinese to work. I took a fortune cookie and the fortune was stupid. I tossed it. Then as I was leaving work the next morning I noticed several other cookies sitting there. I grabbed one, stuck it in my bag and promptly forgot about it until last night when I was going in to work. So I cracked it open. My fortune said "You will soon be involved in many gatherings and parties." It just sounds good. So I'll hope this is a little more good luck for this cycle I'm so optimistic about. Or maybe I'm just crazy.

OMG!! This happened to me SO SO SO bad. Almost like OCD "if i don't eat these after IUI i wont get prego. If i buy this baby outfit i will m/c" Crazy what TTC does for your head cause i have not been that way since i stopped.
Although i have always had a pair of lucky socks :)
Ha! Among other things, I have a fertility voodoo doll I bought in New Orleans and a lucky onesie that was a special gift and is the ONLY baby item I own.
You are not alone! I would avoid walking by the baby section of any store, I thought that I would "jinx" it if I walked in those sections! Ha! And... let's not forget about lucky underware!
Here's hoping your fortunes are good ones! I am systematically eating my way through about a pomegranate per day (thank you Costco) and I think of you and your show and tell every time. Sending my good thoughts-
As someone who is OCD to begin with, I understand the superstition. Mine is always more fear based than anything else which makes TTC even more miserable than usual. But you sound like you are in a great place mentally and I truly believe that can make a huge difference overall.
I'm keeping everything crossed and hoping that indeed all these little things add up to wonderful things for you. ((HUGS))
I avoided the baby section too. I hope that this is it for you!
Sending you all the good wises and thoughts. I hope everything works out for you. I am the same way with superstition now so I don't think you are crazy at all!
You aren't alone! I think we all have some form of superstition or another and especially when it comes to TTC!
I hope your lucky charms bring you lots of luck!
Mate. I hear ya. I kept my frickin booties that I wore over my shoes during my embryo transfer in my car glovebox. I only just threw them out now .... but I had to think about it!!
Wishing you so much love and luck and positivity!! XOXOXOXOX
Oh, gosh. I am so superstitious, too. And about STUPID stuff, too.
But, hey. I figure it is the one thing in this crazy business I still have control over.
I think infertility makes us all a little crazy! Hope this cycle is a raging success.
Oh yes, what haven't I done to hedge my bets with the universe???? Lighting incense and praying at the same time each day during the 2ww, dying all my white underwear pink to increase the 'chi', buying baby stuff, visualizing - what wouldn't we do for that miracle???
I did the same thing! I saved fortune cookie messages that I thought foretasted a positive outcome and all kinds of crazy things. If things had worked out sooner, I might have believed that they made a difference.
